Peter at the 86th Academy of Management Annual Meeting

Sponsored by the Center for Innovative Leadership at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, the award recognizes the publication making the most significant contribution to management practice in organizational behavior. The honor was awarded to Peter and co-author Ranya Nehmeh for their Harvard Business Review article, “Hybrid Still Isn’t Working.” Drawing on Peter’s management research, the article argues that hybrid work is fundamentally a leadership challenge—one that demands intentional coordination and deliberate investment in workplace relationships. Together, Cappelli and Nehmeh provide a compelling, research-backed analysis of hybrid work pitfalls alongside actionable solutions for organizations.
